95% of Gouffern Forest is broadleaf woodland. These are mainly beech trees, some of which are almost 40 meters high.
Gouffren Massif also has medium-quality oak trees, and around 40 other species including: Wild cherry trees, Japanese cedars, Maples, Spruces, Douglas pines, Laricio pines, Larches, Chequer trees, Tulip trees, Hornbeams, Vancouver pines, Walnut trees, Chestnut trees, Sequoias . . . Besides this lush vegetation, the Pavillon de Gouffern also hosts roe deer, squirrels, ducks, woodcocks, foxes, wild boars, and more . . .
At the end of the main alley is our pond, fed by natural sources that wend through the forest and that enrich the woods with their main resource.
You can relax on a bench there for a little while before resuming your walk at your own pace. |
